Imagine epilepsy striking unexpectedly at any point in your life, impacting you or your loved ones. It’s a sudden and challenging reality for millions. This debilitating neurological disorder has limited treatment options and inadequate disease management. With our approach, we aim to redefine epilepsy care, addressing the unmet medical needs and improving patients’ quality of life.

There is no cure for epilepsy

  • 50 Mio people suffer from seizures and the number is growing by 5% yearly
  • The most vulnerable groups are children and the elderly as new cases of epilepsy are most common among children (especially during the first year of life) and adults after age 65
  • 15 Mio. patients do not get control over seizures after trying two different drugs, either on their own or in combination
  • If seizures can’t be stopped or repeated seizures occur one right after another, permanent injury or death can occur
  • The incidence of intellectual disability among those with epilepsy is between 20 and 29 %, as compared to 1 to 2 % of the general population
  • The anti-seizure drugs turn the disease into a chronic, but well-managed condition with side effects in the best case
